Perry is Perry is a Chicago native who was born to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as as seen through flashback) her mother portrayed Jackie Harris in two of Perry's early TV appearances. Her parents did not allow her to begin acting by her parents until an adulthood stage, because they were concerned about the stress it would result in. Perry states that she did not want to be an actor in high school, but she decided to begin performing as a form of social interaction at Northwestern University when she switched from Boston University. When she graduated, Perry went into New York to search for jobs on television, landing small parts in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent However, she was stricken by homelessness and brought Perry back home to California which is where she discovered acting work. Perry performed with her mom as part of The Other Place at Broadway, back in 2013. In 2015, she was a part of her father as well as Kevin McKidd in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Anna Christie in the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West Los Angeles. Perry was featured nine times on the ABC drama The Family, in 2016. In 2017, Perry had the role of a political thriller Scandal with her father. In the same year, the actress was selected to play a younger model of Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory again portraying a younger character of her mom's. She got the part in an audition that was open despite having a connection to the role.
